Four County EMC sponsored two middle-school students to attend the Touchstone Energy Sports Basketball Camps on college campuses this summer.

Sallie Hatcher of Chinquapin expanded her knowledge of basketball at the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp June 9-12 at N.C. State University in Raleigh. Sallie is the daughter of William and Karen Hatcher.

Mark Rawls of Watha worked on leadership skills at the Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp June 22-26 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mark is the son of Don and Christy Rawls.

Campers stayed in dorms and experienced life as a college student, and also developed fundamental skills that will help them excel on and off the court. At both camps, coaches and student-athletes worked directly with campers to improve their basketball skills and practice working as a team.

“Basketball camp scholarships provide students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from acclaimed NCAA coaches and develop fundamental skills that will serve them on and off the court,” said Gay Johnson, Director of Corporate Communications at Four County EMC. “Sallie and Mark are outstanding students, athletes and community members and we are proud to carry on the tradition of providing scholarships to outstanding students like them.”

Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships are available to middle-school students every year and are part of Four County EMC’s commitment to community. Scholarship winners were selected based on an application that included academics, extracurricular activities and an essay.

Students interested in next year’s camp can apply beginning Jan. 2, 2019 through March 31.
